Zusammenfassung:The interdisciplinary "Ages and Stages" project, funded initially under the UK's national multi-research council New Dynamics of Ageing programme, has evolved into continuing collaboration between researchers at Keele University and practitioners at the New Vic Theatre, Newcastle-under-Lyme. Our work is set against the recent and rapid growth of research interest in ageing, drama and creativity, and the long history of senior theatre and intergenerational theatre in both North America and Europe. Although the research evidence ist still fragmentary, under-theorised and drawn largely from practitioners accounts of small-scale and time-limited projects, it does reveal a measure of empirical support for the value of bringing the generations together in drama-based creative activity. Thus, in this chapter we concentrate on the intergenerational dimensions of our work, focussing in particular on the development, devising and impacts of two performace pieces: "Our Age, Our Stage" (2012) and "Welcome to Silence" (2013). We present the background to these projects, outline our research methods, and discuss our findings under three broad themes: motivations for taking part; the value and benefits of participation; and how participation affects relations between the generations.
