Zusammenfassung:This research, by integrating official documents with printed materials, in particular the catalogs of publishers, tells the story of the teaching and education book in the second half of the nineteenth century - after the laws on compulsory education - when publishers turned in their favor the pedagogical and political urgency to form the consciences of the pupils, and thus of future citizens. The essay repositions the Milanese publishers in the educational book geography: the choices that ably market was bound to conjugate the educational sensitivity that is rarely accorded to them, and which is here reconstructed with attention to the crucial points of the turn of the century pedagogy.
