Zusammenfassung:Analytical text on the ornamentation and chairs of the choir of the Cathedral of Puebla: their forms and their earthly and celestial meanings. Art historian Patricia Díaz Cayeros doesn't limit her interpretation to the sole aesthetic appreciation of the forms, compositions and techniques of the chairs of the choir of the Cathedral of Puebla, she also explores the use of space and their function that explain their historic existence: they represent the ecclesiastic hierarchy and their rituals, ceremonies, corporative conflicts or their solitary meditations or group prayers. The author highlights that the importance of the choir chairs of the Cathedral of Puebla is unique for its peculiar ornamentation and extraordinary artistic work inspired in the practices and politics of the ecclesiastical organization, but also for its rarity, as it is complete and accommodated and setup in its original location. The chairs were a sort of investiture and capitular (chapter) attribute that visualized a presence and an institutional continuity. "Díaz Cayeros shows how these works of art, whose appreciation cannot be separated from the compliance of ritual practices, not only highlighted the prestige of the members of the Cabildo (City hall), but also imposed on them a symbolic frame to their meditations and their calls to discipline."
