Zusammenfassung: | Ubiquitious mobile communication is two edged: we profit by possibilities of contact, but public mobile phone use can be disturbing. A theoretical model based on interdependence theory was worked out: It can be used to explain reactions to mobile phone calls interfering in an existing face-to-face interaction. The model is tested by a laboratory experiment with student participants, including structural aspects of interdependence situations, role of the subject (witnessing or receiving a call) and gender as independent variables, and individual behaviour and perceived quality of outcome as dependent variables. |
