The latter indicator is primarily based on the various ecpectations expressed by the survey participants. But assessments of the current situation also have prognostic qualities in that they have a publication lead of up to six weeks vis-à-vis the official statistics. This chapter demonstrates the informative quality of the results of the Ifo Business Survey at the regional level, by itself or in conjunction with other leading indicators, and is based on a study published in Goldrian (2003b). |
