Tag hinzufügen | Zusammenfassung: | Rez.: A list is presented of the fishes occurring in the Exclusive Economic Zones of the seven member countries of the West African Sub-Regional Fisheries Commission (CSRP), namely: Cape-Verde, Gambia, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Mauritania, Senegal, and Sierra Leone. This list, arranged by Families, was assembled from FishBase, the global data base on fishes, as complemented by verified local records from the seven member countries. Common names are provided for all species for which such names are available, i.e., international (FAO) names in French and English, and vernacular names in English (Sierra Leone), French (Guinea, Mauritania, Senegal), Hassaniya (Mauritania), Krio (Sierra Leone), Portuguese (Cape Verde, Guinea, Bissau), Sussu (Guinea), and Wolof (Gambia, Mauritania, Senegal). The list also includes commonly used synonyms of the scientific names (if any), and a broad description of the ecology of each species. Additional information on growth, diet composition, etc. (incl. pictures) on the species my be found in FishBase. The 1066 species in this list are indexed by scientific, international and vernacular names. |
