Zusammenfassung:Small-scale or artisanal fishery is a neglected sector in research on African development, despite the fact that fishery is a vital source of protein and income for a large number of people on the continent and an increasingly important source of revenue for national governments. In this volume research on artisanal fisheries has been pooled together. The contributors are mainly concerned with socio-economic conditions within the sector, but they also cover issues related to the management of fish resources and fishery development projects. Apart from several general themes the volume includes papers based on research from Mozambique, Zambia, Angola, Tanzania and West Africa. (DÜI-Hff)
