Beschreibung:Adaptations of four plays: Macbeth, The Merchant of Venice, Richard the Third, and Timon of Athens. Texts in German. Fischer adapted these Shakespeare plays for the Prague theater using the German translations of Christoph Martin Wieland as his source. Wieland's translations were largely aimed at German readers rather than performance. Fischer's adaptations influenced subsequent Czech prose versions of the plays. Fischer was later of help to Goethe as producer of his Weimar theatre. Timon of Athens is here condensed into three acts, and there are many other variations from the English counterparts
