Zusammenfassung:The present foreign exchange crisis in Kenya could occasion a boom in the foundries and metal engineering workshops if the government adopts policies to vigorously encourage these key industries. Their plant and equipment, skilled workers, and supervisors are massively underutilized. These industries could produce very many products that are currently imported. To achieve this, strong new policies are needed concerning the unavailability and high costs of inputs, foreign exchange allocations, quality controls etc. (DÜI-Ott)
