Zusammenfassung: | The study documents trends in aggregate and ethnic earnings inequality among men in Peninsular Malaysia. The study covers the 1968 through 1976 period, a time span commencing with the period just prior to the announcement of Malaysia's "New Economic Policy" (NEP) and ending five years after its announcement. Thus, the study provides an assessment of the NEP's ability to reduce inequality during its early years. The study concludes that the NEP failed to reduce aggregate inequality or inequality between ethnic groups during its first five years of implementation. (DÜI-Sen) |
