Zusammenfassung:The past two decades have witnessed a growing awareness of the importance of involving women in development programmes, not only for the direct benefit that can accrue to families, but also for the indirect effects on health and family planning practices that could arise from attendant changes in motives, values and aspirations of the rural women. The role and status of women is of vital importance to the success of population programmes. The paper investigates the socio-economic status of women that affect choice of contraception in rural Bangladesh. (DÜI-Sen)
