Zusammenfassung:Agricultural economists, economic geographers and policy makers have been concerned with the debate over the relationship between the farm size and productivity for many decades. This long-debated issue has important implications for agricultural policy in particular and economic development in general. The author explores the known studies on land size, productivity, and economic efficiency in labour-intensive developing countries, particularly in Asia, and land-extensive developed countries, like North America and Australia, to find out their importance to economic development.
