Zusammenfassung: | The long-term economic growth of a nation derives from the growth in its labour force and the rate of improvement in labour productivity. Given the trend decline in growth of the labour force in Singapore, from an average of 4.7 % per annum in the 1970s to 3.1 % per annum in the 1980s and a projected 2.5 % per annum or lower in the 1990s, labour productivity growth would assume particular significance in this labour-scare economy. The paper explores the sources of labour productivity growth in 28 manufacturing industries in Singapore during the 1980s. (DÜI-Sen) |
