To a great extent it is a business story. Lithography, a term derived from the Greek meaning stone writing, was the first totally new print process to be developed since the fifteenth century. As with all inventions, the idea had to be sold. It also had to be promoted and improved, and it was not so much the people who first established lithography businesses who succeeded but rather their followers. |
