The dissertation ,Spuren des Religiösen´ im Werk der deutsch-jüdischen Schriftstellerin Barbara Honigmann – eine literaturwissenschaftlich-theologische Werkanalyse – analyzes and interprets the early literary work of the German-Jewish author Barbara Honigmann (born February 12th 1949 in East Berlin). In the mid of the 1980s the author and her family leaves the former GDR and finds a new home in Straßbourg, France. The dissertation focuses on the point of view of different scientific fields concerning the narrative Roman von einem Kinde (1986) and the novels Eine Liebe aus nichts (1991) and Soharas Reise (1996). Most texts were produced after her emigration into France. Methodically the analysis follows the analysis of narrative texts by Sönke Finnern. Judaism and Jewish religiousness form the joint center of Barbara Honigmann’s literary works (Hans Otto Horch). Various Jewish-theological aspects just like the question about God, meaning of the Jewish feasts, rituals and experience of exile in her works will be elaborated in a differentiated way. Literary studies emphasize the aspect of the exterritorial writing (Andreas Kilcher). There the special perspective of being an author of the so-called Second Generation after the Shoah is being highlighted (Hartmut Steinecke). Georg Langenhorst draws attention to Honigmann’s significance in the religious pedagogy discourse with intercultural and interreligious questions. The heart of the literary-theological analysis builds the narrated religion. The category of liminality moves into the center of the ratio determination (Victor Turner and Dirk Hohnsträter). On the theological level the Jewish concepts of makom (hebr: place), galut (hebr. Exile) and jetzirat (hebr. Creation) are elaborated. The Jewish knowledge of homeland and homelessness is pointed out (Yannif Feller). The work closes with being classified in both areas literature and rite (Wolfgang Braungart).
