A facsimile print of the photographic supplement of the well-known book Tristes Tropiques (1955) by the French cultural anthropologist Claude Lévi-Strauss. - 2. Laurence Aëgerter and Ronald van Tienhoven made a precise reconstruction of the series of photographs that Claude Lévi-Strauss made of Brazilian tribes. The artists asked members of a local community in The Netherlands to be models, bringing the photographs to life again as 'tableaux vivants'. By means of this form of 'counter-exploration' through space and time, the artists emphasizes the continuum of human expression and cultural exchange.
