Zusammenfassung: | Photographer Lina Scheynius documents the most intimate moments of her partnerships: naked bodies, (hetero)sexual desire, sexual intercourse. What appear to be personally furnished bathrooms and bedrooms point to private dwelling spaces as the locations of these atmospheric studies of the body. Scheynius (re)produces an imagination of the domestic as a site of common body images and hetero-normative sexuality. Concrete analyses of the objects also reveal references to image compositions shaped by sexism that tie in with theories of "pornotopian seeing" (Hentschel 2001). Never- theless, a pop-cultural reception of Scheynius’ photographs attributes to them potential as a feminist image critique. This paper asks whether , and if so how , the photographer is able to visualize feminist empowerment. The author posits that Scheynius articulates this precisely with the help of the domestic – both within and with the imagespace. |
