Tag hinzufügen | Zusammenfassung: | To celebrate his 50th career and 70th birthday, painter and engraver Sergio Fingermann is holding the exhibition Malabar Images of a Graphic Work, at the Lasar Segal Museum, in Vila Mariana. The exhibition presents 45 works, ranging from canvases from the 70s to his most recent works in 2023, that summarize the journey of the São Paulo native over the five decades of his career as a restless artist who questioned the foundations the path on which the experience of his artistic creation in contemporary times is based. The exhibition will be open to the public from Wednesday to Monday, from 11am to 7pm, curated by critic Giancarlo Hannud, professor of Art History. During the exhibition, visitors can observe works from an extensive production of metal engravings, developed since the mid-1970s a period of Fingermann's artistic production that is marked by etching and aquatint techniques and drawings that dialogue with the themes of his engravings and paintings. Through his works, Sergio bets on the construction of a work based on a lyrical subjectivity, which dialogues with the history of art and contemporary times. In them, he encourages the observer to reflect on what is in the scene, on the stage or on what the production represents. Often in his works, the artist makes use of chairs, curtains, scaffolding, ladders and moons that reappear and combine with each other, creating a territory for dreaming. Engraving is a technique that has the peculiarity of provoking reflection on the construction of images, as it is made by successive engravings on a copper plate, building a game of plots and hatching that creates sensations of shadows and lights. With a production of drawings, paintings and engravings linked together, I seek to create a poetic identity using theater signs, affective memories and observations of reality to build a world of lyricismʺ, explains Sergio. |
