Beschreibung
Zusammenfassung:This research work is "a kind of ark" that collects some of the books censored or seized in the Brazilian civil-military dictatorship, associating them with the faces, traces and names of those who were victims of state violence, not only under the military governments, but also, recently, in the peripheries of large cities. The publication presents a version of the installation "Perigosos, subversivos, sediciosos: Cadernos do povo brasileiro" (Dangerous, subversive, seditious: Notebooks of the Brazilian People), made by Leila Danziger in 2017 for the group show "Hiatus: the memory of dictatorial violence in Latin America", presented at the Memorial da Resistência in São Paulo, curated by Márcio Seligmann Silva, a professor at UNICAMP and author of one of the essays in the book. The title of the publication refers to the Coleção Cadernos do Povo Brasileiro, directed by Ênio Silveira and Álvaro Vieira Pinto and published from 1962 to 1964 from a partnership between the Civilização Brasileira, ISEB (Instituto Superior de Estudos Brasileiros) and Centro Popular de Cultura da UNE (União Nacional dos Estudantes), one of the hardest hit publications by censorship in Brazil during the 20th century.
