Zusammenfassung: | Sixteen works produced between 1993 and 2022 that recover textile practices in the work of ten artists closely linked to Paraguay. Some of them adopt traditional types of weaving (such as ñandutí, aó po'í, poyví and yú lace, with deep pre-colonial and colonial roots) to explore local issues in the present tense. Others renew embroidery, printing or assembly operations to spin stories about the role of women, work, the environment, the language that inhabits us and its translations. Aó resignifies a poetics of textiles that keeps the thread of shared everyday stories. Participating artists include: Marcos Benítez (Asunción, Paraguay, 1973), Félix Cardozo (Asunción, Paraguay, 1973), Claudia Casarino (Asunción, Paraguay, 1974), Feliciano Centurión (San Ignacio, Paraguay, 1962 - Buenos Aires, Argentina, 1996), Arnaldo Cristaldo (Asunción, Paraguay, 1977), Ricardo Migliorisi (Asunción, Paraguay, 1948 - 2019), Mónica Millán (Misiones, Argentina, 1960), Osvaldo Salerno (Asunción, Paraguay, 1952), Joaquín Sánchez (Barrero Grande, Paraguay, 1975), Karina Yaluk (Misiones, Argentina, 1958). Exhibition curated by Lía Colombino. |
