Beschreibung
Zusammenfassung:This anthology collects the writings of international Social Work colleagues and friends who came together at the Coburg International Summer School and Conference on Peacebuilding, Gender and Social Work in May 2015, celebrating the 100th anniversary of the first Women’s Peace Congress in The Hague, 1915. One hundred years ago, over a thousand women gathered in The Hague to protest against the atrocities of the First World War. Their demands remain as compelling as they were at the time in a world that today is getting incrementally less peaceful every year. Taking into account historical as well as current examples, the structure of this anthology follows the main topics of the Summer School. In four chapters, "Herstory" – Current and Historical Perspectives on Women and Peacebuilding; Theoretical Approaches to International Co-operation, Humanitarian Aid and Social Work; Education, Conflict Reso-lution and Refugee Empowerment and Dealing with the Past – Creative Practices and Memorial Work, the authors explore the manifold links be-tween women’s movements and Social Work, ask for the role Social Workers might play in post-conflict and peacebuilding processes, document and analyze social work in fields like refugee rights, post-conflict and trauma work or human–rights-based sex education and show creative approaches in the context of peacebuilding.
