"Text and texture share an etymological root: texere or Latin for to weave. This exhibition, drawn from the personal collection of New York-based sculptor Oded Halahmy, a Jewish native of Baghdad, weaves his work in with that of eight contemporary artists from Iraq, using this shared etymology to enmesh the idea of text with that of texture, a quality that can be both resolutely material and elusively affective."--Page 17
