Issues of harm and culpability pervade the criminal law, challenging all who seek a principled rather than an ad hoc understanding of the rules that constitute it. Harm and Culpability contains a collection of original papers delivered at Gonville and Caius College, in Cambridge, during a seminar series devoted to the discussion of philosophical issues generated by the criminal law. Papers were presented by some of the leading Anglo-American philosophers, criminall lawyers, and legal theorists and later revised in the light of seminar discussion and editorial guidance. The result is a connected group of essays whose subject matter is topical, and in each case of both theoretical and practical significance. |
