Zusammenfassung: | "Tadeusz Zaderecki's account was originally published in Hebrew in 1982 by Yad Vashem, and we wish to acknowledge the great effort made by the Hebrew edition editors, Dr. David Kahane and Dr. Aharon Weiss. This English-language edition has the aim of making this unique and important eyewitness report available to a wider international audience. In order to provide the reader with as much information as possible, Yad Vashem decided to include all available commentary in this edition. Notes by the historical editors of the orignal Hebrew edition appear together with those of the historical editor of the English edition, Dr. Witold Mędykowski, in the regular numbered format."--Editorial Note Tadeusz Zaderecki was a Catholic Pole from Lwów (as the city was then known; now L'viv in Ukraine) with many connections in the city's Jewish community. He witnessed the violent Nazi campaign against the city's Jews and collected as much information as possible from Jewish and non-Jewish sources. At the end of the war, he turned his notes into a detailed historical account. Translated from the Polish, widely annotated, and with an introduction by Zaderecki's friend and Holocaust survivor Rabbi David Kahane, Lwów under the Swastika is a document that offers a comprehensive understanding of the Holocaust in Lwów |
