| Beschreibung: | Summary : "This book challenges the conventional opposition that is made between "development", seen negatively as an imposition from the Western world, and "religion" or "spirituality"'; especially that centered in indigenous religious practices, which are seen as the way of overcoming this negativity and, in the process, of saving the planet from development. We challenge this poistion by arguing that development is also a way of thinking with religious roots. In going beyond the arbitrary opposition between "religion" and "development" we seek to understand rather the political context at the heart of these relations. We illustrate these debates with reference to the case study of Challapata with its ayllus, cantones and communities, situated in the south-east of Oruro (Bolivia), that we have known for the past two decades." - [p.195] Includes bibliographical references (p.
