Zusammenfassung:The book is an outstanding publication - for several reasons. The axis of the narrative is the previously unpublished memoirs of an officer of the Polish Army, defender of Kepa Oksywska in 1939, which he wrote down during his stay in German captivity in 1939-1945. The major's notebook fortunately survived the turmoil of the war - thanks to the courtesy of his relative, the manuscript recently found its way to the Museum of the Second World War in Gdansk, where it was carefully prepared in terms of research and editing, and prepared for printing. The title character belonged to the pre-war avant-garde of the Polish army. He was an erudite, engineer, co-creator of the fortification system on the coast and a distinguished person in the construction of the independent Republic of Poland. He was also a skilled painter who developed his talent behind the wires of the oflags. His paintings, reproductions of which are an important part of the book, are an artistic record of a prisoner of war and a unique document of the era. Rudolf Fryszowski fully deserves to become a more famous figure.
