Zusammenfassung:This chapter discusses equality, resilience and sustainability. This is undertaken in relation to their interlinkages, in the light of the Covid-19 syndrome; it also makes proposals for the creation of more equal economies. The chapter considers class, gender and also racial inequalities in income, wealth and wellbeing in the UK, situating them in international contexts. It argues that these inequalities are rooted in unequal control over systems of production and consumption. To reduce inequalities, policies must rebalance the relationship between on the one hand commercial rights-regimes governing property, companies and contracts; on the other hand rights set out in the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (the right to work and just and favourable conditions of work, the right to an adequate standard of living, the right to social security, the right to education, the right to the highest attainable standard of health), rights which are critical to wellbeing.
