The "Manchester Madonna" and its influence on Grancacci and Raphael although Francesco Granacci's "Rest on the flight into Egypt" is customarily dated before the "Manchester Madonna", it is here argued that it was painted in the following decade, c. 1504-07 : like several contemporary paintings of the Virgin and Child by Raphael, it demonstrated the hitherto underrated influence of Michelangelo's panel
