Zusammenfassung:In the past 20 years, technological developments and social upheav-als have opened up new opportunities for the ThLZ, but have also created difficult and as yet unsolved problems. The talk discusses this with regard to four problem areas that are particularly important for the future of the ThLZ: the crisis of scientific and scholarly publishing, the development of new communication technologies, the globalization of theological research and religious studies, and the tendencies of ideological self-destruction in the humanities.
