Zusammenfassung: | The paper applies the Harberger-type monetarist model to six countries (India, the Philippines, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand) with different economic structures and widely devergent economic performances. It is shown that the growth of money stock was not the primary source of inflation. It is found that the model's failure to explain the behaviour of prices is partly due to its rigid specification which excludes the impact of the various domestic and external cost pressures.
