Zusammenfassung:Macro-economic models built for developing countries have usually been either supply-oriented or demand-oriented. It is argued that such models are inadequate for explaining the reality in developing countries. A model which explicitly takes cognizance of the fact that constraints may exist on both the demand and supply side is presented and tested for the Philippines. Historical simulation performed with the model for the period 1960-1981 shows that the model satisfactorily explains the situation in a typical developing country
