Zusammenfassung:Theatrical costumes, scenery sketches, models and props from the collection of the Moscow Art Theater Museum. These are, first of all, objects of the stage environment for the very first productions of Chekhov's plays "The Seagull", "Uncle Vanya", "Three Sisters", "The Cherry Orchard", as well as for the performances "Tsar Fyodor Ioannovich", "The Snow Maiden", "Kabala saint" and N. P. Lamanova's costumes for the performances "Crazy Day, or The Marriage of Figaro", "Othello" and "Anna Karenina". Another significant section of the exhibiton consists of works created in the theater and scenery workshop of the Academy of Arts, founded in 1878 on the initiative of M. A. Shishkov. Particularly interesting are the first years of the workshop's existence after its reconstruction in the post-revolutionary period, when various productions became a mass art form. The workshop, opened in 1926, was headed by the famous theater artist Mikhail Pavlovich Bobyshev. During this period, students in search of bold stage solutions tried their hand at constructivism, cubism, and then realism. Among the works are previously unpublished items from the collection of the Research Museum at the Russian Academy of Arts. Thus, the viewer has the opportunity to compare the never-exhibited sketches of scenery and costumes for the opera Carmen by G. Bizet made by N.P. Avakumov and V.S. Fedotov. An independent section of the exhibition is devoted to the works of V. S. Khodasevich which were transferred by the author to the academic museum in 1928
