MAMBO pays homage to one of the most important Colombian artists, celebrating 70 years of his bright artistic production. Although all the different stages of Manzur's singular career are represented in this exhibition, this is not conceived as a retrospective. Instead, it is as a journey within his work, underlining a series of intriguing counterpoints between his old and recent paintings, and researching his main topics, even his obsessions. The common thread of the exhibition is the Baroque, focusing on Manzur's last production which considered the culmination of his career. This catalogue explores the exhibition in detail deepening into the artworks and into the dialogue between them, with critical texts by specialists from different fields offering a distinctive interpretation of Manzur's most emblematic works. |
