Zusammenfassung: | People are increasingly traveling in today's globalized society. But they do so for various reasons, in varying degrees and - not least - on radically different terms. Many travel on holiday to both near and far destinations, commute regularly to and from work and regularly visit family, friends and acquaintances in other countries. At the same time, there is an increased tendency for migration, just as in recent years Europe has experienced the largest influx of refugees in the continent's recent history. 'Transit: Art, Mobility and Migration in the Age of Globalization', through contemporary art projects, illuminates the many different types of travelers whose roads are crossed daily in public transit locations. Who are they? What is the purpose of their travels? What terms do they raise? And what relationships do they have for each other and for transit sites as social and political negotiation zones? |
