Zusammenfassung: | By the term "folk etymology" philologists generally mean spontaneous attempt of the speaker to make sense of a foreign unknown but sometimes rare or obsolete household word, by formally or contextually associating it with a more familiar one. In fact, the attempt to rationalize a vague term means this term to be reconsidered. The root cause of the seemingly ridiculous naivety lies in the endless curiosity and the desire of man to understand the meaning of the unknown. Therefore, it will hardly be an exaggeration if similar cases are used to support the fact that the etymology is the most popular area of linguistics. In this lexicon, among the naive word transformations, are given examples of failures in the scholar etymology, bordering the folk etymology. The main criterion in shaping the hull was the presence of phonetic, semantic, grammatical and/or formative rethinking of national or borrowed vocabulary in order for it to be rationalized, and thus incorporated, into the Bulgarian distinctive view of the world. |
